About Us - How We Operate    About Us

How The River Operates

Sacraments

Baptism

1. Believer's baptism
2. Consencration of children

Communion

Non-alcoholic wine
Parents are to instruct children regarding communion. If the child asks for elements then we assume that the parent has taught them the meaning of communion.

Finances

Contributions are confidental.
Expenditures are monitored by the Management Advisory Team (MAT).
Quarterly statements are posted disclosing expenses and income.

Ministry Involvement

The River will call on you to serve in various ministries.
Small Groups are designed to facilitate the ministry of The River.
The ministry thrives on all the people in the ministry working together as one body.

Worship

The Lead Pastor is responsible for the order of worship.
We ask that people with "Words" approach a pastor or pastor's wife to seek permission to "share" that word at corporate worship times.
Instruments: We ask that if you want to play an instrument in the church service that you audition and join the band.

Problem Solving and Reconciliation

Gossip is destructive.
If you have a problem with the ministry, pastor, leader or member, we deal with it according to the instruction of Jesus in Matthew 18:15-17.

1. Approach personally
2. Take someone with you
3. Tell leadership (pastor/leader)
4. Inform church

Forgiveness.

Decision Making

The ministry is led by the Lead Pastor and Senior Management Team (SMT).
The MAT helps to determine ministry policy and set checks and balances.
The leadership team provides wisdom and counsel.
The leadership team executes the ministry of The River.
We are not congregational and do not vote.
We do believe in the wisdom of the abundance of counselors and earnestly desire to hear God's direction and correction, which may be spoken through anyone in the fellowship.
